Calicut

Calicut International Airport (IATA: CCJ, ICAO: VOCL), also known as Karipur Airport, is an international airport serving the cities of Kozhikkode and Malappuram in Kerala, India. It is located in Karipur, about 25 km (16 mi) from Malappuram and 28 km (17 mi) from Kozhikode. The airport serves as an operating base for Air India Express. It was the twelfth busiest airport in India in terms of overall passenger traffic. It is the third busiest airport in Kerala after Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. It was given international airport status on 2 February 2006.

Kozhikode

Kozhikode ([koːɻikːoːɖ]), or Calicut, is a city in the state of Kerala in southern India on the Malabar Coast. Calicut is the largest urban area in the state and 195th largest urban area in the world. The city lies about 275 km west of Bangalore. The greater Calicut urban area in the Malabar coast is the ninth biggest urban area in the world and the second biggest in India after the greater Kolkatta urban area, which constitute of the northern Kerala region or the Malabar coast.
