Adana Şakirpaşa Airport

Adana Airport or Adana Şakirpaşa Airport (Turkish: Adana Şakirpaşa Havalimanı) (IATA: ADA, ICAO: LTAF) is an international airport located in Adana. The airport serves mainly to the Çukurova region, and in a lesser extent to the provinces surrounding Çukurova, due to its frequent domestic flight schedule and several flights to international destinations. As of June 2016, there are 433 weekly departures to 22 routes from the airport, connecting the region to 8 cities in Turkey, 10 cities in Germany, 3 cities in the Middle East and to the N.Cyprus. Adana Airport is the sixth busiest airport by passenger traffic in Turkey, with 5.4 million in 2015. The airport is ranked 77th in the busiest airports in Europe.

Adana

Adana (pronounced [aˈda.na]) is a major city in southern Turkey. The city is situated on the Seyhan river, 35 km (22 mi) inland from the Mediterranean Sea, in south-central Anatolia. It is the administrative seat of the Adana Province and has a population of 1.7 million, making it the fifth most populous city in Turkey. Adana-Mersin polycentric metropolitan area, with a population of 3 million, stretches over 70 km (43 mi) east-west and 25 km (16 mi) north-south; encompassing the cities of Mersin, Tarsus and Adana. Adana lies in the heart of Çukurova, a geo-cultural region that covers the provinces of Mersin, Adana, Osmaniye, and Hatay. Home to 6 million people, Çukurova is one of the largest population concentrations in Turkey, as well as the most agriculturally productive area, owing to its large stretch of flat, fertile land.
